Attendance & Absences

Attendance:

ASD considers school attendance extremely important, therefore regular attendance is expected of all students. If you need to report an absence please call the office before 9:00am. Daily attendance is pulled at 9:30am and automated calls are sent out at 10:00am for ant student marked absent.

Pre-Arranged Absences:

Pre-arranged absences may be approved one of two ways, either by a Pre-arranged Absence Form (in the office) or by calling the office at 907-742-5750 prior to the planned absence(s).

Absences may be coded as unexcused if a student demonstrates chronic absenteeism or is below academic proficiency. Chronic absenteeism is missing more than 10 percent of the school days for any reason.

Early Dismissal:

Parent or guardian authorization is required for all students who leave school prior to dismissal time. An adult must report to the office and sign the student out when leaving school early; they may not go directly to the classroom. The adult picking up must be listed on the approved student contacts list. If the adult is not on the student's approved contact list the parent must notify the office ahead of time to provide the name of the contact to add. The adult must check in at the office and show Identification to pick the student(s) up. 

Tardies:

Tardiness disrupts instruction for all students in the classroom. Students not in their classroom when the school day begins are considered tardy.
